We ought to have a law – perhaps via a voters’ imitative (as much as I think this process is over-used in California).

The Governor, senators, and assemblymen/women should be required to forfeit their salaries for every day that the budget is late – past the June 15 constitutional deadline. (By “forfeit” I mean that they should permanently lose their salaries.) And for each day the budget is delayed after July 1, in addition to the Governor, senate and assembly members, their respective and entire staffs ought also be required to permanently lose their pay.

Let’s demand some accountability from the Governor and the Legislature!
